Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead financial and operational strategies at our Berlin-based site. This critical role focuses on enhancing shareholder value by ensuring robust financial planning, performance analysis, and compliance while fostering strong partnerships across the organization. As a member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT), the Financial Controller serves as a strategic advisor to the site lead and key stakeholders, reporting to the Senior Director Finance, Global Clinical Operations. The position requires on-site presence with the flexibility of up to one day of remote work per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the financial direction for the site, oversee business planning and financial forecasting cycles, and implement financial and operational strategies.
  • Provide strategic advice on pricing and costing decisions by monitoring profitability and conducting financial analysis.
  • Manage cash flow with a focus on improving Net Working Capital (accounts receivable, inventory management, and accounts payable).
  • Support the development and optimization of the ERP platform (JDE) to ensure financial integrity and control.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with finance teams in other locations to ensure timely and accurate completion of finance functions.
  • Oversee month-end procedures, reconciliations, and variance investigations.
  • Ensure the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and cash flow forecast for capital spending.
  • Manage payroll processes and ensure timely payments to employees and external agencies (pensions, taxes, insurance).
  • Maintain compliance with financial policies and lead the annual financial audit.
  • Provide technical accounting support related to the latest accounting standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proficiency in German and English (written and spoken).
  • Experience in Finance Business Partnering, with exposure to manufacturing and/or supply chain operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, forecasting, and financial modeling.
